Died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, February 26th at the age of 90. William is survived by his wife of 63 years, Myrtle; His two sons, Steven and his wife Jami of Coppell and Gary and his wife Patricia of Dallas; Seven grandchildren, Ryan of Boise, Idaho, Gary and his wife Bayly of Dallas, Nathan and his wife Elizabeth of Midlothian, Lauren of Los Angeles, California, Jordan and his wife Jaime of Midlothian, and Nicholas and Anthony Vernars of Coppell; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Blevins of Salem, Oregon, and Carol Martin of Lake Lanier, Georgia.
William was born March 9, 1927 in Seco, Kentucky. He served in the United States Army Air Forces. In 1954 he married Myrtle Frase. He retired from the Army Air Force Exchange Service after 30 years of loyal and dedicated service. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather known affectionately as Pop Pop.
William loved sports and enjoyed following his favorite teams the New York Yankees and Kentucky Wildcats.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 28th from 6:00-8:00 PM at David Clayton and Sons Funeral Home in Duncanville, Texas. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 1st at 10:00 AM at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Duncanville, and burial will follow at Little Bethel Cemetery in Duncanville.
