Peacefully at Queen’s Garden on Friday, September 11 in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Edward. Dear sister of the Reverend Gordon Firth (Calgary), the late Donald Firth and the late Douglas Firth, and sister-in-law of Mary (Calgary), Kay and Margaret. Loving aunt to David (Marilyn), Steven (Tracy), Dayna (Lou), Sue (Al), Tyler (Alemka), Colin, Matthew (Andrea), Ian (Yvonne) and Fraser (Kathryn). Great-aunt and great-great-aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Betty was born on Christmas Day in 1930 in Detroit, Michigan. She was a long-time employee of the Steel Company of Canada and a world traveller. A multiple Trillium Award winner, Betty was known for her green thumb, as well as her delicious family dinners and her generosity.
Visitation from 12 noon on Saturday, September 26 at Marlatt Funeral Home, 615 Main Street East, Hamilton, followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens immediately following the funeral service. In recognition of Betty’s life-long love of gardening, donations may be made in her memory to the Royal Botanical Gardens.
