James D. Ellis

James Daniel Ellis, 91, of Dunedin, Florida, made his peaceful transition on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Cross Terrace Nursing Center in Dunedin. James was born in Norwood Park, Chicago, Illinois. He was a WWII veteran in the Army Aircorp, who lived in Iceland. He moved his family to the Washington, DC area in 1961, and then to Dunedin, Florida in 1980.

He was a meteorologist with the government for many years.He was a member of the American Meteorologist Society. James loved math, reading and spending time with family and friends. His kindness will always be remembered by those who loved him.

James is survived by his daughters, Marta Ellis-Kellam; Ruth D. Ellis and Jenny Lynn Ellis; stepdaughter, Sirry G. Robinson; stepsons, Isleifur and Finnbjorn Gislason; over 45 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Maralyn Toman, Barbara Olson, Martha Miller Colby and Julie Mathews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 4:00-5:00 pm at Unity Community Church in Dunedin.
