She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. She served her family, church, and Lord Jesus Christ with the full measure of love, faith, and devotion. She met the love of her life, James David Tart, in 1963 at a gospel sing held in the Mary Stewart Community Building in Dunn, NC. They were wed at Beulah Baptist Church in Benson, NC on June 14, 1964, which began 60 years of love, laughter, and hard work. Brenda was brilliant with spelling and grammar. She could type 140 words per minute. She worked over the years in various positions at Nationwide insurance, Campbell University and Lee-Harnett Mental Health Center. In addition, she was also a pastor’s wife which means she was always supporting the church in many roles. The two most prominent roles Brenda occupied were those of the church pianist and singing in the choir.
Brenda was… in a word…love. She did her best to follow the commandment of the Lord Jesus to “love one another”. She gave heart-felt hugs to almost everyone she met and added special warmth to those hugs when she gave them to her family. Her husband, son, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren will forever miss her and are so blessed to have known her.
Brenda was born on September 19, 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents Luther and Maude Wiggins, and her brother John Wiggins. She is survived by her husband James David Tart, her son Andy Tart and his wife Kristen Tart. Brenda also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Chaya Tart, Joseph Tart and Steven Tart, all of Dunn. She will also be missed by her sisters Nancy Edwards and Jackie Wiggins Hart as well as her sister-in-law Ruth Wiggins and her many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:30 Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home in Dunn with the service at 1:00 officiated by The Rev. Roy Johnson. The service will be concluded at Devotional Gardens in Dunn. Friends can also be received at Brenda’s home.
