Mr. C. G. Bowling, 91, of Erwin died Tuesday evening, February 10, 2015 at his grandson’s home in Autryville. He was born March 14, 1923 in Chatham County, son of the late George Thomas Bowling and Erma Maggie Briggs Bowling. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Bowling and twelve siblings. Mr. Bowling was retired from CP & L. He was a Past Master of the Neill S. Stewart Masonic Lodge in Erwin and a charter member of St. Matthew’s PFWB Church. A funeral service will be held Friday, February 13th at 2:00 P.M. at St. Matthew’s PFWB Church in Erwin with Rev. Jerome Edwards and Rev. Jerome Pope officiating. Burial will follow in Erwin Memorial Park with full Masonic Rites. He is survived by one daughter, Jean Maynor and husband Myron of Autryville, one brother, Billy Bowling and wife Mary of Dunn, two grandchildren, Michael Matthews and fiancée Juli Melvin of Autryville and Deborah Creswell of Dunn, and three great grandchildren, Amber, Colt, and Chase Matthews. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 12th from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home in Dunn.
