Dorothy Elizabeth Denning, 81, of Erwin, departed this life on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at her home. She was born January 21, 1937 in Cumberland County, North Carolina to the late Walter Brown and the late Laura Ann Howard Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband Lonnie E. Denning, Jr.; son: James Daryl Denning; seven brothers: Albert Brown, Herman A. Brown, Tracey Brown, Coy Brown, Frank Brown, Bobby Brown and Gordon Brown; two sisters: Mary Lou Blackman and Katherine Knott. Dorothy loved to spend time shopping and dressing up and getting her hair fixed. She loved Sundays because she would go to church, when she was able, or listened to good preaching. Sunday was also the day of the week she would go out to eat. Dorothy was a loving mother and a military wife.
Dorothy leaves behind to honor her memory, her daughter: Ann Denning of the home; son: Marsh Denning and wife Darlene of Houston, TX; three brothers: Paul Brown of Albemarle, NC, Larry Brown of Shallotte, NC and Tommy Brown and wife Annette of Shallotte, NC; four grandchildren: Ashley Denning, Desi Denning, Matthew Denning, and Michael Todd Denning; one great-granddaughter: Elizabeth Ann Denning.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home and at other times at 9483 US 421-South Erwin, NC 28339.
A funeral service to commemorate the life of Dorothy Elizabeth Denning will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 16, 2018 in the Colliers Chapel Church with Rev. Johnny Haney officiating. She will be laid to rest in Harnett Devotional Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Dot was a long time client of mine for many years!! She took so much pride in her looks and her hair was her glory!! A classy lady she was!! She was not just a client she was a dear friend!!I will miss her so much but I know she is at a better place!! IN THE ARMS OF JESUS!! RIP
