Mrs. Evelyn Glover Strickland, of Dunn, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 2, being 95 years of age. She was born in Harnett County, North Carolina on June 12, 1922 to the union of Walter Glover and Vancey Norris Glover.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was welcomed home by the following members of her family: Her loving husband Joseph Strickland; Two sons: Harvey E. Strickland and Jerry W. Strickland; Brother and sisters: Garthie Glover, Esther G. Stewart, Alene G. Dunn, Maggie G. Hobbs, Mabel G. Strickland, Clara Mae Glover;

Evelyn was a simple woman who had a heart to serve others, as she took pleasure in seeing that those around her were happy and cared for. She had a great sense of humor and loved to play pranks as well as to share a good laugh with those in her company. She loved her family and the time she spent with them, her sons and grandchildren were the light of her life. They were what she took the most pride in out of life. She appreciated every aspect of her life, taking what came her way with strength and with no complaints. It is without question that she was a virtuous woman, one who loved going to church and who loved the Lord. She had attended Stoney Run Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading her Bible, gardening and cooking delicious meals for her family; she would always make sure to fix each of her grandchildren's favorite dish when they gathered together. She had worked at the Golden Years Nursing Home where she had been a CNA for 33 years.

Left behind to keep her legacy alive are the following members of her family: Her grandchildren: Melissa Strickland O'Neal and husband Adrian of Mt. Olive, North Carolina, Eric Todd Strickland and wife Ranae of Dunn, North Carolina, Courtney Chad Strickland and wife Lauren B. of Lillington, North Carolina, Kristy Strickland Knoll and husband Joey of Dunn, North Carolina. Great grandchildren: Carrington Strickland, Lauren O'Neal, Brenna Strickland, Alex O'Neal, Ericka Knoll, Ethan Strickland, Lindsey Knoll, Jody Strickland, Callie Strickland, Leah Evelyn Strickland; Daughters in law: Judy H. Strickland and Shelia B. Strickland.

Hello Strickland Family, I'm a neighbor living in the area.
Having heard of your most recent loss, I want to leave you a brief post. I too, well know the grief of losing love ones, and that at times like these, it is encouraging just to know that others are thinking about us. Something that has really helped me to cope with such losses, is the wonderful promise of Christ Jesus, recorded for our comfort at John 5 :28,29. I hope, that when you are feeling up to it, that you are going to look up these powerful Scriptures, in your copy of The Bible. Also, I hope that this brief note, finds The Family feeling as good as can be expected Today.
With Greatest Sympathy, Your Neighbor : P.D.Walker.
