Hazel Wise Byrd

Mrs. Hazel Imogene Wise Byrd, age 88 of Coats died Friday, September 16, 2016 at Transitions Hospice Care in Raleigh, NC. Mrs. Byrd was born in Cumberland County on October 9, 1927 the daughter of the late David F. & Mamie Catherine Dorman Wise and is preceded in death by her husband Paul Junior Byrd, her sisters; Pearl Wise Gregory and Virginia Wise Hobson and her brother Bobby Wise. Mrs. Byrd served as a Ward Secretary with Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital prior to retiring. She enjoyed serving her community through assisting at the Coats Community Senior Center and was known for keeping her home and those things around her in order and clean. Her special talent for quilting, alterations and creating clothes has served many friends and family members. She truly loved life and those who knew her would agree she had “ nothing bad to say about anyone.” A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gil Wise officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens, in Angier, NC. She is survived by: Her daughters: Paulette Byrd Tart of Coats, NC, Vickie Byrd Stephenson and husband Ricky of Angier, Dianne Byrd of Virginia Beach, VA, and Rhonda Byrd Dunn of Clinton, NC. Her Son: Mark Byrd of Coats, NC 10 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren & 5 Great Great Grandchildren Her Sister: Lois Bullard and her two Brothers: David Wise and wife Faye and Jack Wise and wife Ida Ruth The Family will receive friends Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home in Dunn.
