Along with his parents Claude Turner Matthews and Margie Holland Matthews, Jimmy’s Uncles Jo and Clifton preceded him in death.
Jimmy spent many years working in construction as a carpenter. Construction was more of a hobby rather than a job to him. He was constantly working on something and offering a lending hand to anyone that needed it.
Jimmy also enjoyed working in his yard and garden, casting a line in the water, grilling and spending time with his family but most importantly his granddaughters.
Jimmy leaves behind his wife of 32 beautiful years, Lisa Parnell Matthews; Son, Dillon Ray Matthews of High point; Son, Joshua Ray Matthews of Orlando, FL. Granddaughters, Zayla Rain Matthews of Dunn and Audrey Skye McCorquodale of Dunn; Brothers, Johnny Ray Matthews (Judy) of Coats; and Jonathan Turner Matthews of Dunn. Jimmy is also survived by extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life and Balloon release will be held at Cromartie-Miller Funerals and Cremations on Wednesday May 1st 2024 from 6:00 p.m-7:00 p.m
Jimmy’s death was tragic and unexpected. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for memorial contributions to https://www.gofundme.com/f/jimmy-ray-matthews and/or Cromartie-Miller Funerals and Cremations to help with funeral cost and expenses.
