Josephine Pope Blount, 86, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 14, 2020, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Josephine was born on April 12, 1934, in Harnett County, the daughter of the late Josiah Pope and Lela Ruth Hamilton Pope. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jarvis Lee Blount Sr.; a son, Donald Wayne Metzinger; and seven sisters and brothers.

A graveside service will be held Monday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Jerome Edwards officiating.

She is survived by her sons, Jarvis “Buddy” Blount Jr. of Erwin and Joseph Metzinger and wife Kay of Kansas; daughter, Christine T. Storm and husband David of Kansas; stepdaughter, Cindy Blount of New York; a brother, Benny Pope and wife Katie of Dunn; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and special nieces, Aileen Smith and Alice Turlington.

There will be a visitation Monday, Oct. 19, from noon to 1:30 pm at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home, prior to the graveside service.
