Lillian F. "Granny Mac" McDaniel, age 93 of Wade, departed this life on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Taylorsville House in Taylorsville, North Carolina. She was born on January 15, 1926 in Cumberland County to the late Thaddeus Freeman and the late Addie Mae Faircloth Freeman. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Harry Wilson McDaniel; Brother: Melvin Freeman; Sisters: Emma Freeman, Ethel Hayes, Mary Ann Freeman, and Cora Lee Freeman. She loved spending her time with kids, but most especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending much of her time in the great outdoors, planting trees and shrubs. She was a hard worker and independent, practically raising four girls on her own while her husband was making a living driving a truck. Granny Mac could shoot a gnat off a bull's behind! She had an affinity for raising animals, like chickens, pigs and cows!
Lillian leaves behind to honor her legacy her four daughters: Harriett Coffee and husband Steve of Wade, Vivian Barefoot and husband Walter of Grey's Creek, Peggy Young and husband Tommy of Hildebran, and Rose Patterson and husband Bill of Dunn; Grandchildren: Wayne, Dana, Shanna, Holly, Traci, Alison, Little John, Brittany, Sonja, Bubba, Audrey and Stephanie; Great-Grandchildren: Hogan, Henry, Hayden, Troy, John John, Jacob, Shyanne, DeMarcus, Cynthia, Ava Grey, Cole, Reese, "Lillian" Lilly, Aaron, Taylor, Shelby, Trey, Annabelle, Lily, Dylan, Jacob, David, and Aiden; Sister: Hazel Anderson of Texas.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Dana Hudson, 2950 Green Path Road, Dunn, NC 28334.
A funeral service to commemorate the life of Lillian "Granny Mac" McDaniel will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 30, 2019 in the chapel of Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Casey Welker presiding. She will be laid to rest in the Williamson Cemetery on Oak Grove Church Road in Stedman with Stacy Hudson, John William Ault, II, Cole Hudson, Reese Hudson, and Aaron Bailer serving as pallbearers.
