

She was born on September 7, 1934, in Sampson County, North Carolina, to the late Thurman Simpson and Wilma Pope Simpson.
She was devoted and faithful member of Glad Tidings Church since 1955.
A devoted homemaker, Mrs. James dedicated her life to nurturing her family with unwavering love and care. She took immense pride in creating a warm and welcoming home where her loved ones could gather and thrive.
Her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother were at the heart of her life’s purpose.
She will be fondly remembered for the profound love she shared with her family and the enduring legacy she leaves behind.
Mrs. James was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Linwood Lee "LL" James Sr., and her son, Jeffrey Clark James.
She is survived by her sons, Linwood Lee “Sonny” James Jr. and his wife, Beth, of Little River, South Carolina; and Dennis Ray James and his wife, Amy, of Erwin, North Carolina.
She is also survived by her sisters, Nell Lawing, of Cary, North Carolina and Mary Ann Howell, Goldsboro, NC.
Her cherished legacy continues through her grandchildren, Jason James and Jessica James both of Dunn, North Carolina; and her great-grandchildren, Jason Ray James Jr., Mattie Starling, and Nora Starling
Family and friends are invited to honor Mrs. James’s memory during visitation on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home in Dunn.
A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Belinda Cruz, officiating.
Interment will take place at Memorial Cemetery, in Dunn, North Carolina.
Mrs. James’s enduring love for her family will remain a source of comfort for all who knew her. May her memory bring peace to those who mourn her passing.
