She was born on May 2, 1928 in Harnett Co., NC to the late William Cicero Barefoot and Mary Florence Stewart Barefoot.
Traveling was a true passion of Maggie’s. She traveled all over the United States. Maggie went on her first plane ride to visit her family in Minnesota without any hesitation. She loved life living every day to its fullest. Family was the utmost important to her.
She loved gardening, always cutting her own grass. No one could hold her down never letting the dust settle. Maggie loved going to the beach. She loved to go fishing; loved eating fish as well. Maggie loved to go to church with her daughter at Falcon Church of God of Prophecy.
Her husband Joseph McQueen Harris: a son, William Ashley Harris: siblings, Esther, Reather, Ernestine, Corrine, Miles, Bill, Raymond, and Calvin, preceded Maggie in death.
Her two daughters, Betty Jean Norris, of Godwin, NC, and Doris H. Lawrence, and husband Bill, of Dunn, NC: two sons, Joseph Wayne Harris, and wife Gerry, of Godwin, NC, and Ricky Glenn Harris, and wife Sheila, of Godwin, NC: a sister-in-law, Faye Averitte, of Stedman, NC: 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 33 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends, survive Maggie.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024 in Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sammy Hall and Rev. Jerome Pope office.
Burial will follow in Hodges Chapel Church Cemetery in Benson, NC.
