Marjorie Cornelia Lovick, 91 of 6729 Wade Stedman Road, Wade, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020 in the Cape Fear Valley Hospital. She was born on April 25, 1928 in Cumberland County to the late Hughey Alexander McLaurin and the late Juanita Thrower McLaurin. It was shortly after the end of World War II, a young Navy man coming home from war caught the eye of a seventeen year old Marjorie and she fell head over heels for him and it wasn't long before she was wed to Mr. Walter Stanford Lovick and they enjoyed many wonderful years of marriage before he preceded her in death. Marjorie was a simple farm girl, growing up in the Beard Eastover Community. From a young age, she learned to appreciate what she could grow in the rich soil and felt a sense of satisfaction when she beheld the abundant harvest of crops she had planted with her own two hands. Her love of gardening continued throughout her life, even into her golden years. Her yard was like a blank canvas that she colored with the various colorful flowers she so loving tended to. She was a good mother and she loved her family dearly.
Marjorie leaves behind to honor her legacy, her two children: Craig M. Lovick and wife Diane of Wade and Donna L. Truelove; four grandchildren: Brian Lovick, Deanna Carroll and husband Jeff, Kelly Olivera and Joseph Truelove, Jr. and wife Sabrina; two sister: Shirley Gay of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Virginia Thompson of Greenville, North Carolina; eleven great-grandchildren also survive.
A funeral service to commemorate the life of Marjorie McLaurin Lovick will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Monday, January 6, 2020 in the sanctuary of Bluff Presbyterian Church in Wade with Rev. Meg Lindsay Dudley presiding. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Old Bluff Cemetery with Jeff Carroll, Todd Lee, Steve Lovick, Bruce McLaurin, Danny McLaurin, and Leland McLaurin, Jr. serving as pallbearers.
