Mrs. Maureen Flanagan of 131 Gold Court in Broadway entered into rest on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. She was born in Hartford, Connecticut on December 28, 1938 to the late Michael Hannon and the late Burnadette Burns Hannon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years William Peter Flanagan.
Maureen had worked as a Registered Nurse for many years working in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit. She loved babies and working with the sick ones and caring for them fulfilled her life as she enjoyed being a part of their healing process. She had believed in the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Fayetteville. Her husband William had been her world, they had a very full marriage, filled with love and adventure. They enjoyed traveling together, hot air balloon rides, and taking cruises; her favorite getaway destination was Rocky Point, Mexico catching blue shell crabs. She loved to curl up to a good book and read, it was one of her favorite past times. She was very close to her sisters and enjoyed the trips they always took together and the quality time she was given to spend with them. She also was a animal lover, a very big cat person, she had two faithful feline companions who stuck close by her side through the last days of her life.
Everyone loved Maureen and enjoyed being in her presence, she was always warm and kind toward others. She was a very giving and compassionate person, who never had an ill word to speak. Her daughter Barbara described her mother as being "wonderful". The word wonderful means "an inspiring delight, full of pleasure, admiration and extremely good", Maureen was all of those things and she will be sorely missed.
