Michael Eugene Dunson, 57, of Godwin NC, departed from this life and entered his eternal home on Friday, January 31, 2020. Born February 8, 1962 in Fayetteville, NC, Michael “Mike” was the son of the late Barbara McDaniel Sinclair and Carl E. Dunson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Donna Gay Dunson, Ilene McLemore, and Emily Woods. Also, a brother, Dwayne (Keith) Smith.
Michael is survived by two sons, Michael E. Dunson Jr. and wife Donna of Tbilisi, Georgia; James R. Dunson of Fayetteville, NC; two sisters, Barbara Benge of Godwin, NC; Sharon (Kay) Matthews of Dunn, NC; three brothers, Steve Sinclair and wife Pamela of Hope Mills, NC; Wayne Smith and wife Shirley of Holly Ridge NC; David W. Smith of FLA; 5 grandchildren; Olivia, David, Alexis, Jacob, and Stephen; as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Michael was a carpenter. He loved gardening, tinkering with things (taking things apart), reading his bible, and his two cats. Michael loved people through giving. He would give you food from his garden, pies, or offer to feed you when you visited. Michael will be greatly missed, but, his family takes great comfort in knowing that he has returned to the arms of Jesus.
Family visitation will be held at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home located at 401 W. Cumberland Street, Dunn, NC 28334, on Wednesday, February 12 from 6-8pm. Graveside services only will be held on Thursday, February 13 at 11:00am at the Old Bluff Cemetery located at 4100 Old Bluff Church Road, Godwin, NC 28344.
