He was born on January 31, 1941, in Springfield, MA, to the late Philip J. Nason Sr. and Hazel M. Hewson Shadle.
A pastor for over 40 years in numerous churches across several states, Ron served the Lord in whatever capacity he felt called to, and wherever there was a need in the church—teaching, counseling, hosting radio and TV ministries, youth ministry, visitation, coordinating a bus ministry, or operating a TV camera.
He also served by volunteering outside the church, holding positions at various times with food pantries, the Interchurch Council, the Ministerial Association, and the Senior Citizen Council. He also helped start a cancer support group. Ron was known for being approachable and easy to talk to.
He attended Valley Forge Christian College before graduating from Elim Bible College. He furthered his training at Teen Challenge (NYC), the Billy Graham School of Evangelism, and through various chaplaincy training programs. He volunteered as both a fire chaplain and a hospital chaplain.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Rebecca Bond Nason. His siblings—Albert, Philip Jr., Raymond, and Doreen Nason Bushey—also preceded him in death.
He is survived by two daughters, Judy Casper (Jim) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and Jennifer Gupton (John) of Franklinton, NC; and one son, Jeff Nason (Dori) of Wilmington, NC. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Alex Casper (Melanie), Caleb Nason (Arianna), Anna Casper, Naomi Nason, Lydia Nason, Nathan Gupton, and Elijah Gupton.
