Beloved wife of the late Arthur K. Mead and late Almon V. Sanders; dearest mother of Leanne (Robert) Smielecki, Karen (Paul) Burghardt, Lynnette (Mark) Wrigglesworth, Paulette (Bruce) Griggs, Laurie Sanders, Roberta (David) Tuttle, Rebecca (Drew) Cade, Sharon Hagan and the late Kathleen Metz (Richard); dear grandmother of 21 and great grandmother of 34; predeceased by all of her siblings: Mary Braunscheidel, Leander Donner, Geraldine Schlierf and Earl Donner; daughter of the late Leander and late Luella Donner Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Swormville NY on Monday September 21, 2026 at 10:30 AM. Please assemble at the church.
Eunice was a caring mother, grandmother and friend who left a lasting legacy. Her faith, strength and resourcefulness guided her through some difficult times, and those attributes continue to be an example for all who knew her. She raised eight daughters on her own after her husband Almon died suddenly when their newborn twins were just 12 days old.
When you were speaking with Eunice she gave you her undivided attention and made you feel like you were the only person in the room. She was a mother figure to so many and will be missed for her incredible words of wisdom.
Eunice was a member of St. Mary's Church in Swormville and the AJ Jurek Post. She was also involved in many other pursuits that helped her family thrive. She learned from and taught classes in the local Home Bureau, helped her children's Girl Scout troops earn cooking badges and chaired the annual cookie sales. She knit, crocheted and sewed, staying up late into the night to finish a project. She made all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren personal Christmas stockings and made sure she had a stock of them ready for the great-grandchildren that were yet to come. In her younger days she had a large vegetable garden for canning and often sold the excess vegetables at a roadside stand.
Eunice worked several jobs to support her family through the years, which included her work in the Williamsville schools until her retirement.
