James E. Grady

March 1, 1934November 9, 2012

James E. Grady of East Amherst, NY, a retired Certified Medical Sales Representative, and Swormville Volunteer Firefighter for 44 years, died Friday, November 9, 2012 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. He was 78.

Born in Jamaica Queens, Long Island, he graduated from Manhattan College in Bronx, NY in 1957, with a major in Political Science. He lived in the Buffalo area for 50 years.

An eternal Buffalo Bills fan, James was also an avid golfer and celebrated 2 hole-in-ones. When he wasn't golfing for fun, he was golfing for various charities, and had been a member of the Tan Tara Country Club.

While he enjoyed most sports, his real passion was his family and caring for others. In addition to his 44 years as a volunteer firefighter, he also served on the Clarence-Newstead Fire Police Board and was a Senior EMT Instructor.

He and his wife of 55 years, Margaret Grady, née Dixon, met in 1955. James is also survived by five children. Eileen (Peter) Crawford, James (Kathleen), Rosie (Paul) Ravish, Jerry (Lori McDougald), Patrick (Maggie) and loving grandfather to 16 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Robert (Virginia).

A memorial mass will be at 11 am Saturday, November 17, 2012 at St. Mary’s Church, Stahley Rd. Swormville, NY.
