Growing up in Williamsville, NY, she was a member of the St Pius Roman Catholic Church and graduated from Williamsville North High School in 1972. Marilyn began her civil service career as a Clerk Typist on Guam, in 1979.
Through determination and hard work, she rose to the position of Management Services Director at NAVFAC Northwest, retiring in 2015 after 35 years of dedicated service. She also contributed her time to The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 245 of Poulsbo serving as the District Auxiliary President for the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas in Washington State.
Marilyn cherished her "Mom & Sisters vacations". These trips were filled with laughter and precious memories, exploring different states each year with her mother and four sisters.
An enthusiastic quilter, even owning her own quilting business, Marilyn also enjoyed cooking, painting, knitting, puzzles, playing cards and games. The competitive joy of playing Pinochle or Mahjong with her family and friends, could always be heard from the next room. Just like her cheers for her beloved Buffalo Bills, GO BILLS!!!
Marilyn is survived by her children, Dawn Camasto and Bill (Sarah) Theal. She was a loving grandmother to Karly, Haley, and Brady Camasto and Grace and Gwen Theal. Marilyn is also survived by her siblings: Diane (Doug) Smith, Michael (Elaine) Herberger, Sharon (Jim) Scott, Sandy (Larry) Lawler, Steve (Joanne) Herberger, Jim (Ali) Herberger, Al (Lori) Herberger, and Laurie (Bob) Adams.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to those who cared for Marilyn during her health struggles, including her home aides and the team at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. Special thanks go to Olivia and Gina, her primary ICU nurses, whose kindness and attention to detail provided comfort in her final days.
