Born and raised in Buffalo, she carried the spirit of her hometown with her throughout her life.
She spent more than fifty years in Arizona, where she built a meaningful life rooted in service, community, and compassion. A dedicated middle school physical education teacher, she poured her heart into her students and found joy in encouraging young people to grow, move, and believe in themselves. Her love of children extended far beyond the classroom, and she was known for her ability to connect, uplift, and advocate for those who needed a voice. Her passion for activism—whether supporting local causes, championing fairness, or standing up for others—was a defining part of who she was.
When her health began to decline, she chose to return to Buffalo, where she lived with her niece during treatment and was supported daily by her family whose care brought her comfort and strength.
She is survived by her golden retriever, Grace Kennedy, her daughter, her grandson, and her granddaughter. She is also survived by her five siblings, as well as many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her warmth, humor, and the deep bonds she nurtured with them.
A celebration of life to honor her memory will be held in the Buffalo area at DENGLER, ROBERTS, PERNA, 8630 Transit Rd, East Amherst, NY 14051, on March 20, 2026 from 4 pm - 7 pm, giving loved ones the opportunity to gather and celebrate her memory.
