Doug - truly hard to believe it has been a year.  Your Mom really was an incredible woman.  I think back to the many conversations that we would have while waiting on her at the butcher shop.  She was a great listener and also gave some great advice.  Can't think of too many others friends who I had a special friendship with their mother at such a formative time in my life.  Certainly something I will never forget.

Mike - I was just alerted to this web site and so before its turned off, I wanted to offer a few thoughts. I last saw Patty at the reunion in the mid 90s in PA. It was a memorable event partly because some other relatives that were their have also since passed on. Patty would have been the last one we could ever have imagined to lose given her vitality. The Fitzgerald clan was quite close especially when we were kids and all living in the same area. I recall so many mini reunions as a kid. Patty was always there. She and I had an admiration for each other that largely went unspoken. The connection held for many years and I can still recall visiting you in Georgia before you went to Nam. The boys were quite young at the time. My recollection is they looked like twins. So time has intervened but has not dimmed my memory of her spark, her presence and the experience of an ascending soul whose influence was so positive on those around her. I wish you well and trust her love, example and influence will invisibly support you through the rest of your own days.

My most deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved wife, and mother and grandmother. I had the priviledge of working with Pat on the ortho floor for several years.  When I retired to go to Florida she was just diagnosed with recurring breast cancer.  I will forever remember her courage and stmina.  She was a patient and kind nurse practitiioner and forever a professional.  I just lost my husband also and I feel your pain and loss.  You are forever in my thoughts and prayers.

Our most sincere and deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved Mom and wife.  She was such an amazing, warm, strong and positive woman-I am honored and feel so privileged that I knew her as long as I did.  I know her undeniable presence has left a huge void in all of our lives, and I am heartsick knowing the pain you are all dealing with.  Even though I am far away, please know that you and your family in are in my nearest thoughts and prayers.  She has touched so many lives, please take comfort knowing that her life and courage made an impact on so many, and that her spirit will live on. I had the good fortune to work with Pat for the past 5 years on our Ortho floor.  I learned many things from her, the most important being caring.  Pat was exceptional at caring for her patients.  Pat never wavered from her love for nursing,  even when she felt her worst.

Pat has taught all that knew her what true strength is, both professional and personal.  All that knew her will use something she has taught us each and every day.

Pat and I met many years ago at MFSH, we shared a love of nursing, our families,  and unfortunately breast cancer.  When I was diagnosed she was one of the first people I thought of and I reached out to her.  She was so supportive of me and immediately embraced me...I knew I could count on her.  I took care of her several years ago in the ICU and so admired her courage and strength.  I so respected Pat as a mother, nurse, and friend.  She will be sadly missed.  I lost my dad just recently so now heaven has two special angels for me.  My deepest sympathies to you all.

To the Barszcz Family I offer you my deepest condolences.  Pat was a wonderful person and everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her was made better for it.  She was always a joy to work with and an honor to call her a friend.  The world was a better place with her in it and now heaven is a better place.  I will miss you and I love you Pat.

I had the pleasure of working with Pat on the ortho floor for the last 14 years...she was an extraoridinary women who I admired. 
She loved her job so much and it showed everytime she came to work!

In reflecting back on my memories of "Mrs.Barszcz", three things stand out to me.  First, every memory I have of her in the last 26 years is of her smiling.  Second, even as a teenager, I thought it was "cool" that Katie's mom went to school and was impressed with her dedication to nursing.  Finally, anyone who spends a minute with Katie, can see how proud she is of her mom, how much she loves her and just how much she is like her mom in her strength, joy and determination.

Dear Barszcz family: Throughout her long health struggle Pat displayed unwavering courgage, grace and kindness. She was such an inspiration and though death has taken her, it did not conquer her. Her life was a blessing and a gift to all who knew her, loved her and will remember her.

Pat, You are such an inspiration to me and to others.  Your smile was infectious.  Your positive attitude was an inspiration to us all.  You fought a hard, tough battle, and never stopped smiling.  You were the most caring nurse practitioner, an asset to our profession.  I will miss you dearly, and think of you every time I walk up on "your" floor at MFS.

I am so sorry to hear about Pat.  I have known her for years from Suburban Hospital. She was a fantastic Nurse Practitioner and taught me a lot about caring for patients.  She was also an amazing woman. Her strength of character and courage will never be matched.  Her smile was contageous and she always presented her best self, no matter how ill she was.  Remember how she loved all of you.  I know she will never be far from you.  She will always be close to your heart. A friend from work.

I first met you 9 years ago, and instantly we made a connection. You were my kindred spirit and I treasure every moment we had together. 

I don't really know what this world is going to do without you... what I'm going to do without you. Who's going to keep "the boys" in line? Who's going to sit next to me in Operations Meetings and roll their eyes in sync with mine? Who's going to fill that empty space that is so obvious to us all? No one is. No one could.
