I am so sorry to hear of Pete’s passing. Pete and I flew together many, many times in Vietnam with the Gunslingers of the 128th Assault Helicopter Company during 1968. I had not seen Pete since a unit reunion several years ago  - I will never forget his laugh and great sense of humor. His humor and positive energy were much needed in 1968.  Pete also took a bullet intended for me. One evening before a mission on which I was scheduled to fly, I became ill with food poisoning. Pete flew in my place and was shot in the knee! I always felt guilty. Pete - rest in peace my friend.  You have accomplished your mission here and I am a better person for having known you.

Dear Joan, I'm sorry to read about Pets death.  I remember you from your volunteer days in the reading room with Lillian Glajch.  It's hard to believe that  Emily and Wendy's married and you're a grandmother. My deepest sympathy to you and your family,

Dear Pete,
I am so grateful for you. Not just for all the tasty food and fun experiences we got to have in 3 (!) countries together with Joan and Wendy, not just for all the laughs you gave me with your off-the-cuff jokes, and not just for all the eye-opening observations you'd share from your well-traveled eye as we explored the streets of Taiwan and China  ... but for you and Joan giving me Wendy. Wendy is the greatest friend I (and many others) could ever ask for. Why? Because she was raised by you. She has your wisdom, your wit, your warmth ... your love. You are forever with her, with us all ...

PS: This is the photo Joan really loved when I came to visit in Sept 2017. I always think of this scene and yellow chair when I think of you both.

It was a pleasure to have known and worked with Pete at the East Amherst Post Office.

My Uncle Pete brought fun and laughter to my life.  I can remember a few specific moments especially.  I think it may have been Halloween and my Uncle Pete and Aunt Joanie along with a few others came into our living room dressed up as a green caterpillar with green leotards and all.  My sisters and I were mesmerized by the caterpillar dance that ensued.  That is just one example of the fun that Uncle Pete and Aunt Joanie always brought to the three Jansson girls: Amy, Julie, and Lisa.   
I can remember another time when Uncle Pete was taking care of a family member’s pet duck and how I giggled when he told me the stories.  
I have always felt loved and cared for by my Uncle Pete and Aunt Joanie.  They have a way of making you know how important you are. 
I will surely miss my Uncle Pete but am comforted to know he is now at peace in Jesus’ arms.

Remembering your dad with his big smile and funny stories. He had a peace about him that made me feel  secure. Peter will be missed but not forgotten.

I am a decades long friend of Pete's brother David.  I know Pete flew a Huey in Vietnam and gratefully remember the courage and skill of these pilots.   Thank you for your service Pete...and welcome home.
