Dear Specht Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Peter (Grandpa) Specht was such a wonderful man. I remember how often I would visit his home with Brandon, Darryl, and Jeff and be welcomed like a member of the family. I know how special he was to all of you, and I wish you peace during this difficult time. May God bless all of you.

From first introduction to my sisters new boyfriend, I revered John. He was calm and gentle yet substantial. A man’s type with tender paws. Soon after I nervously met Pete and Betty and immediately saw the bi-section of John. But oddly not soft from her, grizzle from him....but instead a unique blend of each within both. Betty’s tenderness and determination, and Pete’s unconditional acceptance, with calluses. The most amazing couple ever. I learned so much from Pete, like first off, never miss an opportunity to listen. Everything I admitted from my first Gentle Giant, I more than respected about the original... the father Gentle Giant. I miss you like crazy Pete..... I take splice knowing your woodworking shop will always have sharp blades and true cuts. The finest is definitely deserved. God bless your family and you.

Even though I wasn’t Popa Pete’s biological granddaughter he never treated me any differently. I always enjoyed going to their house and visiting them when I was up there in Buffalo. He also treated my two daughters as if they were his own great granddaughters. I love you very much Popa Pete and will miss you so much.
