Mr. McPherson was a great teacher at CHS. I was fortunate to be one of his students and he instilled in me a love of History. He taught us students how to think and how to learn to understand events. This has helped me throughout my life and I look back at his class with great fondness. My condolences to his family and friends.

Sorry I just found out. I remember Tom coming to my college graduation party in 1971 as I was also a social studies education major and hoping to follow in his footsteps. I also remember my parents taking me to Kleinhans to see Tom whenever I needed dress clothes. Everyone in our family had the deepest respect and fondness for Tom. James Palladino (cousin)

Seeing his name and picture in the Buffalo News this morning brought back fond memories of sitting in his History class at CHS. He was a role model for all the young men he taught and one of my favorite teachers.

Mr. McPherson was one of the best teachers I had at CHS. I still remember how extremely interesting his class on Communism was. He was a good, kind man. My sympathies to his family.

Mr. McPerson, my history teacher at Canisius High, was the best of the best. Kind, dedicated & smiling to each student, with no exceptions. Intelligent without broadcasting it, logical & able to instill in oft times reluctant students - of which I was one - a thirst for understand why history unfolded the way it did & not just the dates that history happend to unfold. The sparce fond memories I have of Canisius High are due to the wonderful, caring Mr. McPherson.

Dr. McPherson was an icon at Canisius High School and, like so many, I was fortunate to be taught by him. Completing his class was a right of passage. Wishing his family peace and comfort; and I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Our sympathy to Tom's family. At Canisius he was THE MASTER TEACHER for all of us other newbies. Even when we hit 30 years + of teaching, he was still the one we all looked up to. He was always the gentleman and always kind and dealt with erroneous information from students and adults with unique and crushing logic. They don't make them like him anymore.
Rest in Peace, Tom.

I also had Mr. McPherson for two years of American History at Canisius. He was logical, structured, fair, knowledgeable. May he rest in peace.

My sincerest condolences to Mr. McPherson's family. In 20 years of formal education, he was easily among the best teachers I ever had. He also sparked a life-long love of history and heavily influenced my ultimate choice of history as a major in college. That also helped lead me to choosing law as a profession. I was very fortunate to have Mr. McPherson as a teacher at CHS and am grateful to his family for sharing such a wonderful man with his students.
Most sincerely and respectfully,
