

He was born on August 11, 1942 in Schenectady NY, and was the son of the late William F. Bernadt Sr. and Mildred (Muessle/Schneider) Bernadt. Bill was a 1964 graduate of Union College, where he received his Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Economics. He was employed by New York State Division for Youth, and retired as the Assistant Director of Health Services in 1998. Bill was a Troop Committee Chairman for the Boy Scouts of America and a volunteer for United Way. An active outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed alpine skiing, hunting, fishing, baseball, 5k running, camping, paddling in his Hornbeck boat, gardening, and racquetball. Bill donated multiple gallons of blood to the Red Cross. In 1998-1999, he lived in Germany with his wife Gail where they enjoyed European travel. Most recently, Bill was best known at Fox Creek for swimming, clearing snow, and always being kind.
He was the husband of the late Gail Bernadt; beloved father of Wendy (Scott) Hoyt, Barbara Brem, William F. (Paul Bostaph) Bernadt Ill, W. Bradford (Andrea) Bernadt; Grandpa of Amber (Collin) Thompson, Brianna Anauo, Andrew (Ryan Burns) Brem, Daniel (Melissa) Wik, Michael (Brittani) Wik, Kaylynn (Michael) Lennox, Michael Hoyt and the late William “Junior” Bernadt IV; Great-Grandpa of Jacob, Jayce, Brantley, Abigail, Addison, Ellorie, Magdalyn, Athena and Serenity; Brother of the late Kathryn (late Jay) Knauf; uncle of Jay (Cathy) Knauf Jr.; AFS dad of Turkish students Ismail Yurekli, Ahmet Kirtok, and Mustafa Mert Dingol.
