Dear Jeannie and Family, We are holding you in our hearts with thoughts and prayers for your peace and comfort at this difficult time. We fondly remember Bill and missed you both at this years’ reunion. May the many memories of the special past that you shared bring you joy in the days to come.

I joined Billy Ervin's class in the third grade and continued with him until high school graduation. Then, lo and behold, we both were hired at the paper mill and were chosen for the apprentice program, giving us another four plus years of learning and working together. We had many good times before "Uncle Sam" stepped in. Then we started to lose touch. Bill used his well-earned veteran benefits to get a college degree, moved on to bigger and better things and never looked back. Bill's brother, Buddy, kept me up to date on Bill, and and I was proud of his accomplishments. I viewed the videos of young Lisa ice skating several times--before Buddy demanded them back. It's hard to say farewell to another " Rivermont Brat" . To Jeannie and Lisa and grandchildren- Lean on our kind and loving God at these trying times. He makes NO mistakes! Remember the good times with Billy. Rest in peace my friend, Bobby Smith

I had three special years at Covington High. WE played basketball, baseball and football together. Another highlight was I rode home after sports with Mrs Ervin, Hallie or Sketter Bill's dad.
One occasion in basketball, Bill got the tip of a jump ball. Away he went and scored the basket. But other teams basket.
Remember last face to face conversation at reunion. He was concerned about Lisa and her health. Jeannie was a perfect fit for Bill, met a couple times at Covington reunions.
He contacted me in March when I was going through my health issue. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE. SAVE ME A PLACE ON A TEAM UP THERE. LOVE YOU MAN.

Always remember Bill growing up - playing lots of baseball, softball, football, etc. We were both from "up on the hill" above Covington town. Always a great guy, and a great family.
