Frederick Lee

Fred was born on Aug. 30th, 1942 in Warsaw, NY. Son of the late Robert Edward Lee and Viola Schneckenburger. Brother of Roberta (David) Evans, and the late Edward Lee and Marie (Ronald) Bennett.

Farming was always in his blood. As a teenager he worked on his Uncle Ralph Schneckenburger’s dairy farm and was very involved in FFA. After graduating from Attica High School, he joined the Army National Guard and then married his sweetheart, Penny Torge on May 15th, 1965. Shortly thereafter, he purchased the Torge family dairy farm turning his passion for farming into his lifelong career. He was involved in the dairy industry and constantly advocated for his fellow farmers. He was the Director of Dairylea, Director-Treasurer of Milk for Health, Member of the Dairy Association and Dairy Council, Member of Farm Bureau and member of the Western, NY Two Cylinder Club. He was also involved in the local community and resided on the Wales Planning and Zoning Board as well as being a lifetime member of the Strykersville Fire Company.

Above all his family came first! He enjoyed watching the Bills games with his wife and their many vacations with family and friends. Fred’s pride and joy were his 5 children, 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and the grand dogs. His hard work ethic and passion for farming has been instilled in his children, their spouses and families. He was an avid hunter that shared the love with his children and grandchildren. Many opening days were spent at the shop having lunch and sharing the big buck stories. He also never missed his grand children’s sporting events and was the proud sponsor of his grandson’s pulling truck; The One Bad Habit.

If he wasn’t on his farm, you could find him helping a neighbor, working on other local farms or having coffee with his many friends. His humor, kindness and great big smile brightened everyone’s day. He was loved by all and will be sorely missed!

He entered eternal rest on Thursday, Dec. 9th, 2021. He was the cherished father of Shelley (Norb) Logel, Sherry Schwab, Cindy (Ken) Casey, Melissa (John) Pleace, Daniel (Leah) Lee. Beloved grandfather of Eric (Colleen Burgess) Logel, Victoria (Levi) Wolcott, Alex Schwab, Tyler Schwab, Brittany (Zach Smith) Casey, Heather (Nick Morse) Casey, Kyle Casey, Lauren (Dylan) Atwater, Cole Pleace, Daniel Lee and Aleia Lee and great-grandfather of Weston Lee Wolcott. There will be no prior services. A future Celebration of Life will be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wales Center or Strykersville Fire Company.
