Louis A. Zimmerman III

Zimmerman, Louis A. III of East Aurora, NY entered into rest peacefully at home, under the care of Hospice August 23, 2025; Beloved husband of 59 years to Donna (nee Dye); devoted father of Eric and predeceased by his beloved son Richard who passed in 2003; loving son of the late Louis A. Jr. and Catherine Zimmerman; dear brother of the late Sgt. Major Gene L. Zimmerman and Francis R. Zimmerman; fond uncle of Gregory (late Lisa) Zimmerman; cherished friend of Fred (Barbara) Strief and Vince (Nancy) McCormick; also predeceased by his treasured bunny Molly. Arrangements by WOOD FUNERAL HOME, East Aurora, NY. Services were held privately for the family.

Louie was a man with many interests. He enjoyed motorcycles and raced motocross at Zoar Valley. He especially loved sailing and raced in the Wednesday night regattas for several years. He played the guitar, was a talented artist and an avid reader.

All of that stopped in 2012 when a distracted driver with road rage crossed the median and t boned him resulting in a traumatic brain injury. He lost his words and all that he knew and loved. Never giving up, Louie, with the help of amazing therapists, after 6 and a half years, regained the ability to drive and experience some freedom again. Still, there was so much of his past times he could no longer participate in.
