Mary Louise Dobelbower of East Aurora, a former research oncology nurse at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, died Thursday in Mercy Hospital. She was 71.
Born in North Tonawanda, she was raised in the Town of Tonawanda and graduated from Mount St. Mary’s Academy and the nursing school at Sisters Hospital in Buffalo.
She worked for about 15 years as a research oncology nurse at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
Mrs. Dobelbower lived in Toledo, Ohio, for about 26 years before returning to the Western New York area. In Toledo, she served as president of the Medical College of Ohio Satellite and was a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Maumee River Yacht Club.
She and her husband of 29 years, Dr. Ralph Dobelbower Jr., traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and North and South America.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Deborah Flynn, Bridget Mann and Mollie Ciocca; a son, John Baldwin; a sister, Susanne Powers; and two brothers, Robert Glaser and William Glaser.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 520 Oakwood Ave., East Aurora.
