Dear Vackel Family,
We are sorry to hear of the loss of your brother and uncle. Paul touched the lives of so many in East Aurora. For us, it was always great to see him each week at St. Matthias and then as we grocery shopped. Our church was particularly fond of Paul and as Father Barker said to me once, "Paul Vackel, ... the best (damn) acolyte I ever had". His life was rich. We will miss him. -Mary Ann and Bob King

I miss you oh dear brother.

My late father, Harry Vackel, a funeral director, taught him a prayer by rote to say at grace, and my most vivid memory is how he recited it:
Blessed be God, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
Bless this food to our use and us to thine eternal service,
May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace, and may light perpetual shine upon them...
