I knew Mr. Spangenberg as my college friend, Karen's, father. I'll never forget the time that my sister and I drove to South Wales to go skiing with Karen. When I backed out of the long, winding, snow-covered driveway I veered off of it into a 3-foot snowbank. Mr Spangenberg came out of the house with a dog or two and somehow miraculously guided me out of the snowbank and onto the road. And all with a smile. I'll always remember him as the nice man that he so clearly was and his frozen mustache on the ski slopes. My condolences to Karen and the family.

1st as my Asst Principle at WSEast High school. My Senior year, 1976, he approached me and asked if I could help design our Senior rings. Being the bi-centennial year, it needed to be "just right"......
To the National Ski Patrol several years later, as a mentor, a fellow patroller and a friend.
He was an extraordinary man.
He will be so missed!

My deepest condolences to his family,
Nadean Chamberlain (Crane)

So very sorry for your loss .
Bob was a great administrator and was wonderful with students. I’ll remember him fondly!

Bob was a wonderful, sharing person who acted as my boss and mentor at West Seneca East Senior High School, beginning in the late '60s. He also hired my future wife (Carolyn Gwitt Gierke) as the high school librarian, a few years later.

As a teacher and administrator, Bob was caring and thoughtful to all he encountered. I can still smell his fragrant pipe tobacco smoke as it wafted from the faculty lounge - can't do that today. I remember his riveting accounts of racing '40s era automobiles at Buffalo's old Civic stadium after World War Two.

He was one of a kind and provided me with invaluable advice on numerous occasions. Bob lived a long and fruitful life and he can be assured that he won't soon be forgotten.

I am so sorry for the loss of Bob Spangenberg. I taught in two West Seneca buildings under Bob's leadership . He was the ultimate professional in dealing with staff and the students. Bob was especially supportive of students with special needs and also with the dedicated teachers who taught those students. Bob will be missed. My condolences to the family.

I knew Bob when he was a principal and I was a science teacher at West Middle, West Seneca.
Bob was a Principal's Principal...a true leader. He was an easy man to work for because he was always willing to work with his teachers. He gained everyone's respect by always setting a terrific example as an educator/administrator.
It's been some time since we were together at West Middle, but I will always remember him.
Love and prayers to Bob and his family.

If you need to define "gentleman" look no further than Bob Spangenberg. As a teacher, Assistant Principal and Ski Patrol leader Bob was both gentle and manly. Bob could counsel a student while being stern but with a smile on his face. He could calm a seriously injured skier and safely evacuate them from the mountain. A man that I admired
