

November 11, 2015 at age 72 of East Aurora, beloved husband of Sally A. (Sweka) O’Connell; dearest father
of Timothy S. (Sarah F. Connolly) O’Connell, Kathrin R. (Eric N.) Doberstein, William T. (Nicole C.) O’Connell;
loving grandfather of Mari A. and Sophia F. O’Connell; devoted son of the late William and Ruth (nee Becker)
O’Connell; dear brother of Patrick M. (Antonina) O’Connell and Rev. Terrence E. O’Connell O.M.I. and the late
Molly O’Connell; also survived by many nieces, nephews and his beloved dog Chloe Ann. The family will be present
on Sunday from 2-5 PM at the WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 784 Main St., East Aurora. A Mass of Christian Burial will
be celebrated on Monday at 9:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, memorials may be made to the Buffalo City Mission.
Timothy P. O’Connell, a retired engineer at Fisher-Price Toys, died Wednesday in Mercy Hospital following an illness.
The East Aurora resident was 72.
A Buffalo native, Mr. O’Connell graduated from Cardinal Doherty High School in 1961. He also was a graduate of Erie County Technical Institute and attended University at Buffalo.
Mr. O’Connell worked as an engineer for Fisher-Price Toys for 37 years before retiring in 2002. A proud volunteer, Mr. O’Connell coached his kids’ sports teams, and for more than a decade he was an assistant Scoutmaster and adult leader in Boy Scout Troop 513 in East Aurora. He led many canoe trips to the Adirondacks and Canada.
A long-time volunteer firefighter and assistant chief of East End Active Hose Company, East Aurora Fire Department, he also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Western New York Land Conservancy and Fisher-Price Toys First-Aid Squad.
In addition, Mr. O’Connell was a Village of East Aurora Board Member and Tree Board Member as well as the chairman of the Faun Lakes Committee. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. O’Connell enjoyed canoeing, camping and golf, and he loved to spend time camping with his family.
He was a lector and altar server for funerals at Immaculate Conception Church.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Sally Sweka; two sons, Timothy S. and William T.; one daughter, Kathrin R. Doberstein; and two brothers, Patrick and Rev. Terrence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 520 Oakwood Ave., E. Aurora.
