

Thomas, son of Michael and Carmela (Anzalone) Faugno, was born in East Boston, MA on February 20, 1929. He was received into the First Order on July 14, 1949. He made temporary profession on July 15, 1950, and was admitted to solemn vows on July 15, 1953.
Fr. Valerian was ordained a priest by Bishop Bernardine Mazzarella, OFM on June 21, 1958 at Mount Alvernia in Wappingers Falls.
Fr. Valerian taught at Christopher Columbus High School, Boston (1960-1973) and at Mass Bay Community College (1973-1983). He served as parochial vicar at St. Francis, Cambridge (1973-1976), St. Leonard, Boston (1976-1983; also the Guardian from 1976-1980),
Our Lady of the Assumption, East Boston (1985-1989) and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, East Boston (1989-1995).
Valerian transferred to Saint Bonaventure Friary, Brighton, in August 1995, and over the next seven years served in a variety of ways: as a member of the Formation Team, SFO Spiritual Assistant, FMU Promoter, in Parish Ministry, as Vicar, Procurator and Guardian. Fr. Valerian moved to Saint Anthony Friary, Catskill, in June 2002.
Visitation will be held at Saint Leonard Church, corner of Prince and Hanover St., North End, on Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 7-9pm with a Vigil Service to be held at 7:30pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Leonard Church on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 10am, with interment in the Friars' Cemetery, 455 River Road, Andover, MA 01810.
