Americo P. D’Attilio, 92, beloved husband of Alice (Dailey) D’Attilio, of East Hartford, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at home after a long illness. He was born on August 12, 1921 in Hartford to the late Nicola and Mary and (Caporale) DAttilio.
He graduated from Hartford Trade School and found employment with Pratt & Whitney, retiring after 62 years. A resident of East Hartford for 65 years, Americo was active in the community. He was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church and a member of the Cub Scouts and Knights of Columbus. Americo enjoyed life to the fullest especially in family. He was a devoted husband and father that cherished time spent with them. He liked cooking, gardening, boating, vacationing and in his youth loved ice skating and skiing and recently spent most of his time puttering around the yard and house. He will be most remembered for his love of children, doing good for others as well as his good nature.
In addition to his wife Alice of 65 years, he is survived by his children; Alana Maria D’Attilio, Laura Ann Wentworth, Richard Raymond D’Attilio and his wife Tanya, grandchildren; Nicholas J. Lichatz III and his wife Tamra, Jeffrey J. Lichatz, and Richard R. D’Attilio Jr., great grandchildren; Nicholas J. Lichatz IV and Tessa Maria Lichatz and will also be dearly missed by his brothers Rudolph P. D'Attilio and his wife Marie, Raymond F. D'Attilio and his wife Sandra, sister-in-law Beverly D'Attilio, and all his many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Americo is predeceased by his brothers William E. D'Attilio and Leon D'Attilio.
A period of visitation will be held on Saturday, September 28th, at 9:30am, at Benjamin J. Callahan/Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford CT 06108 with the Memorial Service beginning at 10:30am, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt.
