Andres was born to parents Brigido Ferrer Gauzat and Juana Moret Texidor on October 18th, 1925 in Guayama, Puerto Rico. He grew up as the fourth and the last survivor of five children. His siblings being Casto, Maria, Regina, and Bruno Ferrer.
Andres married his beloved wife, preceded in death Dora H. Gonzalez de Ferrer, in 1950 and the couple had ten children. During his early years, he began to work at the Guamani sugar refinery as a machine operator until he was enlisted in the U.S. Army to fight in the Korean War where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. Upon his return, he started his own business as the owner of La Tienda, a small grocery store. He also worked as an assistant engineer at Fluor Daniel. In addition to his employment, he was a devoted cattle owner and had a passion for fishing. In the 1960s, Andres moved to New York where he worked as a foreman in the neckware industry. He later continued his business of operating a grocery store until his retirement.
Andres, beloved father, is survived by his daughters, Maria, Violet, Magdalena, Nora, Nilda and Jennifer; his sons, Cecilio, preceded in death Andres Jr., Jose Ramon, Anibal, and Alexis. Grandchildren: Dorian, Cassandra, Rebecca, Belicca, Jose, Maria-Jose, Christina, Luis, preceded in death Jillian, Alyssa, Eric Jr., Eleazar, Michael-Andrew, Cesar-Alexis, preceded in death Andres, Cesar, Marcus, Celia, Joshua, Yandal, Luri, Christopher, Chaney, Joel, Kevin, and Suzette; and 19 great-grandchildren.Also acknowledged are the spouses, respectively: Ray Chandler, Jose Fernandez, preceded in death Angel Garcia, Eric Fantauzzi, Freddy Lanzot, Mirtha, Adelina, Jeanette, Millie, Adela, Ivonne, Lili, Gladys, Aida, Mariam, and Evette. He will also be remembered by his nieces and nephews, his friends, and assisted living personnel.
A viewing of the body will be available to the public at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, CT. The service is Wednesday, December 19th between the hours of 5 and 9 p.m. He will be transported to his birthplace, Puerto Rico, for a viewing on Friday, December 21st and burial ceremony on Saturday, December 22nd. The family is grateful for the condolences.
