

Anthony (Tony) S. Janco, of South Windsor, beloved husband to Bernadine B. (O’Brien) Janco for the past 58 years, entered into eternal rest on February 15, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 6, 1924, to the late Ignac and Anna (Squarek) Janco, of Osage, West Virginia. Prior to his retirement Tony, was employed for 33 years as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service, East Hartford. A decorated combat wounded Purple Heart veteran of WWII, Tony proudly served in the United States Army. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Arthur E. LeBlanc of South Windsor, Cheryl J. Mader of South Windsor, Anthony S. Janco Jr. and his wife Kathy of Hudson, NH; his brothers Joe Janco and wife Letitia of Westover WV, John Janco and wife Donna of Cannonsburg, PA, Ed Janco of Rices Landing, PA; his sisters, Vern Sevec of Clarksville, PA, Mary (Sandy) Nelson, and husband Jean, of Tariffville, CT, Rose Oxner of Destrehan, LA, Cecelia Okonski and husband Jerry, of Oak Lawn, IL; brother in law Carol Dubay and wife Sharon of Dexter, ME sister in law Charlene (Dubay) Welch and husband Thomas, of Sudbury, MA; grandchildren, Nicholas Mader and wife Sarah, Christopher Mader and fiancée Catherine Manseau, Jennifer Kirk and husband Ben, Stephen Janco and fiancée Kelly Nolan, Kyle Janco; and a great granddaughter, Ellie Kirk; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by his sisters Marge Superak, and Josephine Tibbetts.
Tony enjoyed much of his retirement in Englewood, FL where he loved to fish and garden. His other interests ranged from water skiing to bowling but more than anything, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a lifelong member of the VFW, DAV and an active member of the American Legion. He will be greatly missed by all whose life he touched.
Funeral services will be held at the Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford on Saturday February 20th at 8:45 a.m. followed with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 673 Ellington Rd., South Windsor. Burial with Military Honors will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester.
Calling hours will be on Friday Feb. 19th from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
