Arthur A. Baker Jr.

Arthur A. Baker Jr.73, of Bethany, passed away May 7, 2012. Arthur was the beloved husband of Lorraine (Boilard). He was born in Hartford, a son of the late Arthur A. Baker Sr. and Aneila Wankowski. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956-1959.

Arthur had a strong work ethic; he worked for many years in construction, at Emhart, and lastly retiring after 16 years of service for The Stanley Works where he was a machine group leader. Arthur had a passion for the outdoors – his main love was fly fishing for trout and salmon (he even tied his own flies), hunting, bowling, UCONN women’s basketball, the New York Yankees, and vacationing in upstate New York. Most importantly he cherished his time spent with family and friends. Arthur is survived by his loving wife Lorraine, son Arthur Baker III and his wife Deanna of South Windsor, daughter Angela Baker of Raynham, MA, son Brett Baker and his wife Noeryl of Tolland.

Arthur will be missed dearly by his grandchildren: Taylor and Brandon Baker, Cory Dufour and his wife Destiny, Eric Dufour, and Logan Baker. He also leaves behind one great grandson Daylin Dufour. Arthur is also survived by his sister Donna DeRocher of Manchester, sister-in-law Lori Rosborg and her husband Scott of Bristol and their children Daniel and Mitchell, sister-in-law Linda Dinnan and her husband Matthew of Hamden and their children Courtney and Matthew, his mother and father in-law Norman and Lucille Boilard of Plainville, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Arthur was predeceased by his brother Steven Baker.

Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, May 11th from 5-8PM at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford. Arthur’s Celebration of Life service will begin at 7PM, followed by Military Honors, all to be held at the funeral home. Burial is private and at the convenience of the family.
