Barbara T. Stevens

Barbara V. Stevens, 79, beloved wife of Richard Stevens passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2026. She was born November 24, 1946 in Hartford, CT a daughter of the late Harold and Eleanor(Haynes) Thurston. She was a faithful member of First Congregational Church, and took pride in being a registered nurse for Dr. Henry,Dr. Fote and the doctors at Somerset Family Healthcare. She was a longtime member of the EHSYF credited 76 times in things from acting to costumes to board member.

In addition to her husband Richard of nearly 58 years, she is survived by her daughter; Kristen Stevens of Glastonbury, her son; Sean Stevens and his wife Lynda of Naples, FL, three adored grandchildren; Victoria, Adriana and Isabella Stevens as well as three brothers; Alan Thurston of Vernon, Richard Thurston of Louisville, KY and James Thurston of Tolland.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 4-8pm at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT. Barbara’s funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 9:30am at First Congregational Church, 837 Main St. East Hartford, CT, everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford
