

Betty D. Sleath, Age: 97, of Manchester, CT, beloved widow of Donald W. Sleath, passed away peacefully on July 1st, 2015 at St. Francis Medical Center surrounded by loving family. She was born February 21st, 1918 in Claremont, NJ to the late Victor R. Denson and Mary Emma Louden Denson. She graduated from Colby Sawyer College. She resided in Riverside, CT for 34 years. Before having her children she was employed by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Radio City, NYC. At age 53 she graduated from the Greenwich Hospital Nursing program and she immensely enjoyed working at St. Joseph's Medical Center where her daughter also worked. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich, CT all her life serving as a deacon as well as one of the first volunteers in the Rummage Room. She volunteered at the Greenwich hospital and was a member of the Mianus River Garden Club where she served as treasurer. She enjoyed arranging flowers, singing, arts and crafts and making birthday cards on the computer. She was a loving daughter and mother devoted to her family always available to listen or lend a helping hand.
She will be dearly missed by her sons, Robert D. Sleath and his wife Jean of Amston, CT, Alan B. Sleath and his wife Madeleine of Stamford, CT; her daughter, Diane S. Engle and her husband John of Charlton, MA; her 6 Grandchildren, Debra DuPuis, Jennifer Balnis, Kimberlee Mazzone, Matthew Engle, Robyn Sleath and Elizabeth Henderson and 12 Great Grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on July 14th at 11:30 am at the First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich, CT. Burial will private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty's memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
