

Bruce M. Howat, 58, of East Hartford, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. Born in South Windsor, CT on October 16, 1958, he was the son of the late John “Scotty” and Edna (Laliberte) Howat. He was a dedicated and hardworking employee of Barnes Aerospace in Windsor Locks for 20 years. Everyone knew Bruce as intelligent, witty, and a passionate history buff. You could always count on him for a good joke. He enjoyed relaxing on his back porch, doing crossword puzzles and watching golf on TV.
Bruce was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his son, John Howat of East Hartford; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean Howat and Floyd Baranello of South Windsor, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Allan and Jane Howat of Jupiter, FL, Andrew and Erica Howat of Jupiter, FL, and John and Catherine Howat of Ellington. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Bruce is predeceased by his twin sister Lynne.

Friends and family are invited to attend a period of visitation on Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 11am-1pm at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford CT 06108. A service celebrating Bruce’s life will follow immediately at 1pm at the funeral home. Burial is private and at the convenience of the family.
