Catherine R Johnson

Catherine Rose Johnson, 87, of East Hartford, CT passed away peacefully on October 20, 2016 with her family by her side. She was a devoted wife to her late husband Carl Robert Johnson and predeceased by her parents Frank and Sophie (Albrycht) Stanish.

She spent her life in central CT, devoting her time, energy and love to family, friends and her faith. Catherine loved her Jesus more than life itself. Her greatest desire was that the world she touched would come to know Him and love Him as well. She cherished and treasured her children and grandchildren. Adored and respected by so many, she was fondly called Nana, Auntie Kay and Sister Johnson.

Catherine’s life will continue to be celebrated by her children: Charleen Glasser and her husband Bob of Xenia, OH; Rick Johnson and his wife Judy of Torrington, CT; Phyllis LaMere and her husband Joe of Dawsonville, GA; Ken Johnson and his wife Karen of S. Windsor, CT; Carl Johnson and his wife Donna of Phoenix, AZ; Bruce Johnson and his wife Nina of Athens, AL. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family for calling hours on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Newkirk and Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT. On Wednesday, October 26 at 10:00 AM, Pastor Jon Petoskey, pastor of The Pentecostals of Greater Hartford, will conduct the celebration of Catherine’s life. The church is located at 110 Ellington Road, East Hartford, CT. Burial will be in Silver Lane Cemetery in East Hartford.
