Charles F. Dorn, 88 years, beloved husband of Catherine E. (Kay) Dorn since 1951, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2018, at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT. Charlie was born on January 29, 1930, in East Hartford, CT, to the late Charles Dorn and Marie Pisch Dorn. He graduated from East Hartford High School and was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army. Charlie was employed by Northeast Utilities, retiring in 1992 after 39 years. Once retired, he and Kay moved to Brewster, MA, in Cape Cod and lived there 26 years. He was active in the Appalachian Mountain Club, and he volunteered many hours to his community in Brewster, MA. He enjoyed sailing, hiking, camping, canoeing and square dancing.

Besides his wife, Kay, he is survived by his sister, Dorothy Valli, and he was predeceased by his sister, Lillian Dodd Meacham. He was also predeceased by his son, Christopher. He is survived by four children: Catherine Dorn Schreiber and her husband Peter Schreiber, Carol Dorn, Charles Dorn, Jr., and his wife, Brenda Prince Dorn, Christine Dorn Kehrley and her husband Kirk Kehrley. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Larisa and her husband Gui, Kristen, Jacob, Teresa and Antoinette. His beloved dog, Skippy, will miss him dearly.

The Dorn family would like to thank all those who loved and cared for Charlie during his illness. Funeral services and burial will be private.

Dear Kay, We were so sorry to hear of the loss of Charlie. We always looked forward to seeing you every summer at the Cape. We have missed you both. You and Charlie were always so thoughtful and kind to my mother Helen in her last years. I know she always enjoyed your visits. We hope you are doing well and keeping Skippy walking. Dear everyone,

I was so sorry to hear the news. I have so many fond memories with your family growing up. I think of you often. I remember him sitting on the chair in the living room on Davis Road reading the paper or a book. He always had a nice word and a great smile. Prayers to you all thru this sad time.
