Charles S. “Lefty” Tomalonis, of East Hartford, died Tuesday, December 26, 2017. He was born on Hartford, a son of the late Alexander C. and Anastasia (Tomkunas) Tomalonis. He was a communicant of St. Rose Church in East Hartford and a diesel mechanic at H.O. Penn Machinery for 39 years before his retirement. He was a musician and played the accordion with the Hog Hollow Hooters. He enjoyed polka music and the top 100. He enjoyed feeding his birds, fishing and gardening herbs of all kinds. He was a jokester and enjoyed the prank and laugh to follow. He volunteered with the Food Share and playing music at area convalesce homes. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Eileen (Sherako) Tomalonis, his loving daughter Charlene Cameron and her husband Jay of Agawam, MA, his loving son Allen Tomalonis of Virginia, his sister Phyllis Chase and her husband Fred of South Windsor, his cherished grandchildren Neil Cameron and his wife Michelle and Nicole Doyle and her husband Nick, one treasure great-granddaughter Molly Cameron, his nephew Duane Chase and his wife Margie and his niece Jennifer Gaudrault and her husband Russ. Funeral services will be Friday December 29, 2017 at 9:00AM from the Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial 10:30AM in Saint Rose Church, 33 Church St. East Hartford. Burial will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery, 1312 Silver Lane, East Hartford.
