Well Mom it has been a couple of weeks now since you have passed on to the gates of Heaven. I know you are in arms of the angels while you continue to watch over us. I guess a mothers work is never truly done.  Although I never really and truly thanked you for all you did for us while growing up, I want you to know that as we grew we realized just how show strong of a person you really were. Not many could hold a light to your loyalty, strength, and courage that you demonstrated time and again. It wasn't an easy life but you did your absolute best for us and for that we are forever grateful and so proud to call you Mom! We love and miss you greatly but are also comforted knowing you are at rest and of true peace.

P.S. When our time comes can you team up with Betty and make sure they let us in! :)

As much as I love all members of my family I never now how to express myself. My remembrance of Aunt Christine is a tiny little lady with a big heart love you Mataunt say Hi to Dad when you see him and tell him after 38 plus year we still miss him very much. Thank you Mataunt.

To my dear friend, Sharon...How many people can say they've been friends for FIFTY years? Not many. Growing up together on the same street are memories I will always cherish. We had such fun together, especially with your sisters, who were like sisters to me. Your parents were always so warm & welcoming. Your house was always filled with music. I'll never forget the day you brought your Mother to Riverside.  I was there with my Mother and you and I looked at each other in disbelief and we hugged each other tightly; we had not seen each other in a while, and strangely enough, our Mothers became roommates! I would always check in on her while I was visiting my Mother, and she was the same sweet lady I had come to know so many years before. Needless to say your entire family will always hold a special place in my heart. If it weren't for your Dad, I would have never known what a "Fiddlehead" was....yummy! I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the entire Martin family, and especially to you Sharon, my dear, forever friend, with love,

My thoughts and prayers are with you today and always.  Last time I saw Ma Tante was when I came home for moms service.  I remember moms face lit up when she came to see mom in the hospital.  Mom always looked forward to their once a week phone calls.  Lots of great memories with our families growing up.  LOTS!!!!  Now we are all grown up and somehow I can't see our kids doing all the CRAZY things we did growing up and,,,, getting away with it. I know how much you will miss this little mother of yours. But remember she is at peace and in NO MORE PAIN!!! She is with Betty, Mom, Dad, and all the brothers and sisters.  It must have been quite the reunion. 
The last time I saw her Sept. 2009, we hugged good bye and Christine said, "Give me another hug because this is the last time I will see you and I love you so much." Needless to say I left in tears. 
As a young child Christine was my second Mother.  I slept with her and she took care of me.  That's what big sisters did in such a large family. I am not with you in person, but be assured that YOU are all in my thoughts and prayers in these difficult times.

Dear Moncle Nelson, Steve, Dean, Sharon, Nancy and family,

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Matante Christine. I wish there were words to express the sadness I feel for the loss of such a wonderful woman. I can remember when I was little Mom would put me in the basket on the front of Sharie's bike and Mom and I would ride over to Matante Christine's house. We must of looked like quite the pair riding down Main Street with me sitting in the basket with my little legs hanging over the front. As I was growing up I remember Mom talking about when Matante got married and moved off the farm. Mom would sit on the stairs in front of the stained glass window and cry while calling out Matante's name. Mom was only 6 years old and was so sad when her big sister moved out. That's why there is no doubt in my mind that Mom was there to meet and help Matante cross over.

The last time I saw Matante Christine was at the cemetery. Her and Nancy were visiting Betty's grave and I was visiting Mom's. We stood and visited there for quite some time and I'll hold that memory in my heart forever. Later that summer Matante called me to thank me for planting and tending to flowers at Betty's grave. I told her there was no need to thank me that it was my pleasure. I just wish I was still in CT so I could do the same for her next spring.

Please, know you all are in my thoughts, heart and prayers. As time goes by I hope and wish that your sadness and tears will be replaced with smiles of all the wonderful memories you have of this special lady that I am lucky enough to call Matante.

Please, take care of eachother; that's what Matante Christine would want.
