Daniel T. Peace Sr., went home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2024, at the age of 71, surrounded by his beloved family and friends. He passed away peacefully at Saint Francis Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and unwavering devotion to Christ.
Born on January 12, 1953, in Mount Vernon, NY, Daniel was the cherished son of James Peace and Abigail Garcia. He grew up with a strong sense of community and a passion for learning that defined his life. Daniel attended Robert Fulton Elementary, Washington Junior High, and Mount Vernon High School before graduating from New Lebanon High School. He earned his degree from Colgate University and later graduated from the Hartford Seminary.
In his early career, Daniel was a skilled carpenter and a proud member of Local 43. However, his life took a transformative turn when he was licensed to the Gospel Ministry in 1990 and ordained in 1995. As a born-again, Holy Spirit filled slave of Jesus Christ, Daniel dedicated his life to ministering to others through prison outreach, street ministry, and work with the homeless. Over three decades, he served as a minister, evangelist, pastor, and teacher, embracing many prophetic gifts. A devoted prayer warrior, he founded and maintained "The Prayer of the Day" ministry until his passing. Daniel served as an Associate Minister at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Hartford, CT, and as pastor of Sword of the Spirit Christian Church in East Hartford, CT.
Daniel also pursued a career in computer technology, focusing on web design and building computer systems, helping to make the internet accessible to others. His ministry extended to his role as a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association, where motorcycles became a vital part of his life and outreach.
A man of many talents and an adventurous spirit, Daniel embraced hobbies such as traveling, welding, archery, photography, aviation, drumming, and guitar. A Political Science major, he had a keen interest in politics and culture and was always ready for spirited discussions.
On April 17, 1983, Daniel married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Hall. Together, they raised their children, Charles G.(LaSunya) Phillips, Love Ann Peace, and Daniel Thomas (Barbara) Peace, II, instilling in them a deep love for God and a commitment to His commandments.
Daniel Peace was preceded by his beloved wife, Mary Ellen. He is survived by his children; six grandchildren: Chloe Combs, Kenya Moody, Tyriq Phillips, Truth Phillips, Jada Vercosa, and Nathaniel Peace; and his great-grandchildren, Omari Phillips and Zion Combs. Daniel is also survived by his siblings: Susan Llequis, Roscoe Peace Sr., Kitt Peace, and Major Peace; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at UCONN Health, Saint Francis Hospital, Retina Consultants, and the Christian Motorcyclists Association for their care and support.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Liberty House International Church, 647 Tolland Turnpike, Manchester, CT. A calling hour will take place from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a Homegoing Celebration at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Silver Lane Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Christian Motorcyclists Association in honor of Daniel’s memory.
