Dawnette Wright

Dawnette Wright, age 54, of East Hartford, CT, passed away unexpectedly on November 20, 2024. Dawnette was born on May 5, 1970, in Kingston, Jamaica, daughter of Shirley Powell and Headley Bennett. Dawnette worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant until her passing. Additionally, she was a licensed massage therapist.

A devoted daughter, mother, and sister, Dawnette cherished spending time with her family. In her free time, she enjoyed listening to relaxing music, caring for her plants, and admiring nature. She also had a talent for arts and crafts. She will be remembered for her kind-hearted nature. Always-available to counsel and encourage others. She was a nature buff and loved to be by the waters. Her smile was infectious. She made you feel at home and welcomed in her presence. We will remember her delicious meals that she loved to share with family and friends. Dawnette was full of life, energy and charisma.

Dawnette is survived by her mother, Shirley Powell; her children, Steven Salmon and his wife Denise, Shanice Douglas, Malik Shannon and Jaheim Wright; her grandchildren, Andrew, Monte, and Sophia; her siblings, Sharon Bennett, Kevin Benjamin, Crystal Bartley and Ainsworth Brown; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Dawnette’s life will take place at a later date.
