Dennis R McGuire

Dennis was born on December 19, 1952, in Hartford, CT to Raymond Lacroix and Anne Marie Kogos. Upon graduating from George J. Penney High School in 1971, Dennis had a lifelong career at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft as an apprentice, working his way up to Senior Manufacturing Engineer, until his retirement in 2019 after 46 1/2 years of service.

Dennis was instrumental in bringing new parts into cutting edge production, utilizing the latest, most advanced technology. He had a true passion and talent for mentoring interns and trainees and took pride in their growth. He was well respected by his colleagues.

In his personal time Dennis was an avid golfer, especially when accompanied by his best friend and colleague John Griswold. He was also a member of Pratt & Whitney's golf league where he enjoyed traveling and playing in tournaments with his golf buddies.

Dennis loved nature and outdoor activities. He enjoyed water skiing, jet skiing, fishing and other water sports. Dennis and his beloved wife, Ellen, enjoyed many trips to Florida and other parts of the country visiting friends and family. When Ellen retired, she and Dennis traveled to Hawaii, a trip they had been planning and looking forward to. It was a trip they will never forget.

As a devoted loving father, Dennis enjoyed spending time with his boys, Tim and Dan. He was always there to support and cheer them on as their number one fan. They brought him great joy.

In addition to his wife Ellen, Dennis is survived by his loving son; Daniel McGuire of Philadelphia, PA, mother; Anne Marie Kogos of Greenfield, MA, sisters; Donna Armstrong (David) of Manchester, CT, Lucinda LaCroix of Lebanon, CT, brother; Edward McGuire (Corrine) of Bolton, CT, brother-in-law; Joseph Romak (Penny) Newtown, CT, aunts; Anita Erickson of Clermont, Fl and Barbara Macdonald (Alex) of Manchester, CT.

Predeceased by his son; Timothy McGuire of Hebron, CT, father; Raymond LaCroix of Hampton, CT, and mother’s husband; Leonard Kogos of Greenfield, MA.

Dennis also leaves behind many loving friends and family.

A brief gathering prior to church will occur Friday, July 7, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM, 318 Burnside Ave, East Hartford, Connecticut 06108. A Funeral Service will occur Friday, July 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 60 Church St, Manchester, CT 06040. A Committal Service will occur Friday, July 7, 2023 at 12:00 PM at St James Cemetery, 368 Broad St, Manchester, CT 06040.
