Dexter Frederick Proudman, 93, of South Windsor, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, with family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Katherine (Patterson) Proudman. He was born in Boston, MA, on May 30, 1928 and was the son of the late Fred and Ina Proudman. He lived in Boston for over 75 years before moving to South Windsor to be close to his daughter and her family.
After moving to Connecticut, Dexter met a wonderful companion, Joyce Boudreau. They enjoyed walking at the mall, long car rides and especially loved family gatherings with Joyce’s children and grandchildren. Dexter also always looked forward to his weekly breakfast with his friends, Art and Ray.
Dexter worked at the Charles Supper Company in Massachusetts for 55 years as a machinist and foreman. He proudly served the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion, originally at the Irving W. Adams Post in Boston, and upon moving to CT joined the Abe E. Miller Post 133 in South Windsor.
He will be dearly missed by his son, Charles D. Proudman of Las Vegas, NV; his daughter, Betty Lou Sime and her husband George and grandson, Alexander, of Coventry, CT.
Along with his wife, Dexter is predeceased by his brother, David E. Proudman, and long-time companion, Joyce Boudreau.
There will be a private family burial in Boston, Massachusetts.
