Dora Dence

Dora Dence, 87, passed away peacefully Monday, November 7th, 2011. She was born in Gloversville, NY, daughter of the late William and Sarah (Bersch) Sprung. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles A. Dence.

Dora enjoyed spending time with her friends, playing Bingo and cards and afternoons spent at the South End Senior Center. Dora was a hardworking woman who helped provide for her family, she will be known for her kind and generous spirit.

She is survived by her two sons, David Dence, a retired Air Force supply Sergeant of 23 years of North Charleston, SC, and James Dence and his wife Carol of East Hampton, CT. Dora also leaves behind to cherish her memory her grandchildren: Bradley A., Travis A. and his wife Lisa, Troy James and Christy Marie Dence, one great grandchild Taylor A. Dence, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews from New York.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Dora is predeceased by her son Larry A. Dence, her daughter Susan Cheryl Dence, her identical twin sister Doris Nicholas and her brother-in-law Mike Nicholas.

Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Dora’s life on Thursday, November 10th from 5-7pm at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, with her memorial service to immediately follow at 7pm.
